New pictures showcasing an iconic Aberdeen fountain following a power wash have been revealed. Pictures taken by Friends of Victoria and Westburn Park show the 142-year-old fountain in the city looking 'fabulous' after being cleaned ahead of the weekend.

The category-A-listed fountain, which is located at the heart of the city's Victoria Park, was turned back on earlier this year following renovations that cost a total of £137,000. The money was raised due to fundraising efforts and the city's Common Good Fund and work was overseen by Aberdeen City Council.

Speaking at the time, Peter Stephen of the Friends of Victoria and Westburn Park said it was 'great' that work had been completed ahead of Victoria Park's 150th anniversary next year.

The fountain was designed in 1878 by eminent local architect John Bridgeford Pirie and was constructed in 1880 as the centrepiece of Victoria Park using 14 different types of local granite, reflecting the variety of stone being quarried in the Aberdeen area at the time.
